Challenges and Solutions in This Case:
The project covers an area of 3,000 square meters and provides cold-chain distribution services for the company’s convenience store outlets, enabling an end-to-end cold chain that encompasses all temperature zones (low-temperature loading docks, fresh produce sorting areas, frozen goods sorting areas, fresh produce storage warehouses, and frozen storage warehouses). The frozen storage area, which stands 8 meters tall and features high-density, high-bay racking, posed a technical challenge regarding the compressive strength of the floor insulation. Our company selected four layers of 50-millimeter-thick extruded polystyrene (XPS) boards with a high-density compressive strength of 500 kPa, totaling 20 centimeters of insulation. This ensured the thermal performance of the floor insulation while meeting the heavy load-bearing requirements of the high-bay racking. The project was completed in 2022 and has operated without incident for four years to date.
